HALEEM RECIPE/HYDERABADI HALEEM RECIPE

I'm really blessed to have people like you in my life. Here I'm with my another yummy recipe,that is popular haleem recipe. Actually I wanted share this recipe in ramzan month, because of some reasons I couldn't share recipes. So, finally here is the recipe.

Haleem is a very popular Hyderabadi dish. It also very popular around the globe. I heared that haleem is available in Hyderabad during ramzan month only. But, don't worry if you want to taste haleem now,then just try this recipe and feel the taste any time you want. It tastes exactly as storebought haleem. You don't need any extra ingredients to make haleem, all ingredients are easily available at home. So, give it a try and let me know how it turned out for you.




Ingredients :


Mutton : 500 grams (boneless or with bones)
Green chillies : 10 to 12
Ginger garlic paste : 3 table spoons
Oil : 1/2 cup/100 ml
Cloves : 4
Cinnamon sticks : 2
Cardamom/elaichi : 4
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Chopped mint leaves : 1/2 bunch
Chopped coriander leaves : 1/2 bunch
Pure ghee : 250 ml

Broken wheat/daliya : 225 grams
Basmati rice : handful
Chana dal/Bengal gram : 2 table spoons
Moong dal/green gram : 2 table spoons
Masoor dal /red lentils : 2 table spoons
Urad dal/white lentils : 1/4 cup
Toor dal/pigeon pea : 2 table spoons

For haleem masala powder :


Cinnamon sticks : 6 (2 inch size)
Cloves : 1 1/2 tea spoon
Shajeera/black cumin seeds : 1 1/2 tea spoons
Jeera/cumin seeds : 1 tea spoon
Cardamom : 6 to 7
Black pepper corns/kaali mirch : 2 tea spoon

For serving :


Fried onions
Fried nuts
Chopped coriander leaves
Chopped mint leaves
Lemon wedges
Melted ghee

Method :


Take rice and all lentils in a bowl, add broken wheat and wash them well. Now soak it for 2 to 4 hours.

Now pressure cook soaked dals by adding water.  cook for 6 to 8 whistles or Dals turns soft and mushy.

Now add salt to taste, then blend it well with hand blender and keep a side. (if you are using mixer grinder,then allow the mixture to cool completely)

Now take all haleem masala ingredients in a blender, blend into a fine powder and keep a side.

Now heat oil in another pressure cooker or pan,add cinnamon,cloves and cardamom. Then add ginger garlic paste, saute until raw flavors disappear.

Now add mutton pieces and saute for 5 to 6 minutes.

Now add green chillies and saute well.

Now add salt and turmeric powder and haleem masala powder,saute for 5 minutes.

Now add coriander and mint leaves, saute for a while.

Now pour sufficient water and cook until mutton turns soft and mushy. Now remove bones and discard the bones.

Now mash cooked meat well, or you can blend it with blender.

Now add blened mutton to cooked dal and mix it well and put on heat.

Now add ghee and cook for 5 to 10 minutes on high heat and remove from fire.

Now garnish with fried onions,nuts,ghee, coriander and mint leaves and serve hot.

Meanwhile,heat oil in a pan add cinnamon,cardamom and cloves

Add ginger garlic paste

Saute until raw flavors disappear

Now add mutton pieces

Saute well

Add green chillies,Saute well

Add turmeric powder and salt


Add haleem masala powder

Saute for 5 minutes

Add mint leaves

Add coriander leaves,saute well

Now Add sufficient water

Cook until mutton turns soft and tender

Now remove bones and discard them

Now mash or blend mutton gravy well

Add blended mutton to cooked lentils

Mix it well

If you have dal masher like this, mash and mix it well on high flame

Mash and mix it well

Pour ghee

Cook for 5 to 10 minutes and remove from fire


Garnish with fried onions,nuts and ghee, serve hot!!!!
