TOFU AND CHEESE CALZONE RECIPE


A calzone is an italian oven baked folded pizza. I often bake these calzones at home with different toppings and it turns really perfect. This time I have added tofu to my calzones. You can add paneer instead of tofu in this recipe. You can add any toppings as per your choice.I used my fool proof pizza dough to make these perfect calzones. If you have store bought pizza sauce in your hand then just mix all ingredients in a pan saute for few minutes and use it as filling. Sounds very easy right.

 makes 4 medium calzones

Ingredients :

Pizza dough : (click here for recipe)
medium chopped onions : 2
medium chopped tomatoes : 2
tomato puree : 1 cup
Chopped garlic : 1 table spoon
Oil : 2 table spoons
Chilly flakes : 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Mixed herbs or oregano : 1 tea spoon
large capsicum : 1
Tofu or paneer : 100 grams
cheese : as needed (you can use any cheese)

Method :

First prepare your dough and let it rise in to double. (click here for recipe)

Mean while heat oil in a pan add garlic and saute for few seconds. Then add onions and saute for 1 minute.

Now add chilly flakes,oregano, Salt, chopped tomatoes and tomato puree, cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Now add capsicum and saute until mixture gets dry.

Finally add tofu saute for few seconds and remove from fire. Let it cool completely.

Now take your raised pizza dough punch down the air and knead it for few seconds.

Divide dough into equal portions.

Now take one portion and roll it by dusting with flour or oil.

Put some filling in the middle spread some cheese and fold it into half moon shape. Now seal the edges with fork.

Now place them in lined baking tray,apply some oil or egg wash on top of the calzones.

Preheat oven in 200 degrees centigrade for 10 minutes and bake them for 20 to 30 minutes in 200 degrees or until they changes into golden color.

Finally apply some butter on top and serve hot.

Take pizza dough and punch down the air, knead it for a while

Divide into equal portions

Roll it

Put some filling

Spread some cheese

Fold it

Seal the edges with fork like this

Place them in lined baking tray

Apply oil well on top and bake it

Now they are well baked

Apply some butter on top

Serve
