Mysore in . masala dosa is another yummiest and famous breakfast dish in south India. This mysore masala dosa is completely different from other dosas. Batter is also different from regular dosa batter. We need to extra dals/lentils to make perfect dosa batter. The other. Ingredients are red chutney and potato masala. If we prepare these 3 ingredients at home then you can taste yummy hotel style sorry mysore style masala dosa. I can say this is the yummiest mysore masala dosa in the world. Ingredients :
For dosa batter :
Rice : 2 1/2 cups (regular or raw rice)
Urad dal/white lentils/minapappu : 3/4 cup
Bengal gram/chana dal/chanagapappu : 1/4 cup
Toor dal/kandi pappu/pigeon pea : 1/4 cup
Mentulu/fenugreek seeds/methi : 1/2 tea spoon
Cooked rice or pressed rice : 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Soda bicarbonate/cooking soda : 1/4 tea spoon
For red chutney:
Chana dal/bengal gram/chanaga pappu : 1/4 cup
Large onion : 1
Dried Red chillies : 6 to 8
garlic pods : 5 to 6
Salt to taste
Oil/ghee : 2 to 3 tea spoons for each dosa
Method :
First take all dals/, rice and fenugreek seeds in a large bowl, soak them in water for 6 hours.wash and drain 3 times.
now take soaked dals and rice into a blender and blend it. Add some water in between and blend into a smooth paste.
Repeat the same process. I have blended in 2 to 3 batches.
Now take this into a large bowl and cover with lid. Let it ferment for 8 hours or over night.
Now to prepare red chutney, Heat oil in a pan, add Bengal gram and dried red chillies saute until gram turns into golden color. Then take this into a plate.let it cool completely.
Now take this into a blender and blend into a fine powder, now add onions and garlic, then blend into a fine paste by adding little water.that's it our spicy red chutney is ready.
Now prepare potato masala. (click here for recipe)
Now ,after batter is fermented add salt and cooking soda. Mix it well. Add some water if your batter is too thick.
Now heat tawa and make dosa, drizzle some oil, take 1 or 2 tea spoons of chutney and spread it all over the dosa. Now drizzle some oil.
Now take some potato masala and spread it on tawa, cook for some time and fold it gently.
Take into a plate and serve hot.
Take all lentils and rice in a large bowl |
Wash and Soak for 6 to 8 hours |
Add cooked rice |
Drain water and take into a blender |
Blend into a smooth paste by adding some water (Blend it in 2 to 3 batches) |
Take this into a large bowl and mix it well |
Cover with lid and let it ferment for 8 hours or over night |
Now our batter is fermented |
Add some salt and cooking soda |
Mix it well. Add ssome water if batter is too thick |
Now take all spicy red chutney ingredients |
Take dal and red chillies in pan |
Fry until dal changes into golden color |
Let it cool completely and take into a blender |
Blend into a powder |
Add Salt,onions and garlic |
Add some water and blend into a fine paste |
Now heat tawa and make dosa |
Drizzle some oil |
Add some chutney |
Spread it evenly |
Drizzle some more oil |

Put some masala on dosa |
Spread and cook from some time |
Fold it gently |
Serve hot!!!! |
