Just now posted soft and fluffy idly recipe (click here for recipe) . So,need yummy chutney to serve with idly right? So thought to share immediately. This chutney I often prepare for idly and dosa. It tastes exactly as hotels. So many of my viewers requested me to post chutney recipes. So I'm here with my first and best coconut chutney recipe. This chutney well goes with any south indian breakfast.you can skip ginger and tamarind in this recipe but you want exact taste of hotels you must add those 2 ingredients.

Ingredients :
Fresh coconut : 3/4 cup
Roasted chana dal/sai pappu/putnaalu : 1/2 cup
Green chillies : 3 to 4
piece of ginger
small piece of tamarind
salt to taste
For tempering :
Oil : 2 tea spoons
Mustard seeds /aavaalu : 1/2 tea spoon
Urad dal/minapappu : 1 tea spoon
curry leaves : 2 strings
Dried red chilly : 1 (optional)
Method :
First take coconut,ginger and tamarind in a blender, blend for few seconds
Now add remaining ingredients and blend for few seconds
Now add some water and blend it
Now take this into a bowl
Now to make tempering, heat oil add mustard seeds let them crackle now add remaining ingredients one by one and put this tempering on Chutney mix it and serve.

Take coconut,tamarind and ginger in to a blender |
Blend it |
Add remaining ingredients and blend it by adding water |
To make tempering heat oil add all ingredients one by one |
Pour this tempering on Chutney |
Serve!!!! |
