Halwasan is an Gujarati sweet dish. This sweet is made with broken wheat ( daliya),milk, edible gum and ghee. Recently I came to know about this recipe and made this at home. It tastes really delicious. When I first tasted this dish it just melt in mouth and loved the aroma. My daughter's too loved this halwasan and finished the whole batch within minutes.
this recipe calls for Brown sugar,if you don't find Brown sugar you can use caramelized sugar. I too used caramelized sugar. It turned really yummy. You can cut them into pieces or you can just have it with a spoon.

Ingredients :
Broken wheat/daliya : 1/2 cup/50 grams
Edible gum/gondh : 1/2 cup / 50 grams
full fat milk : 1 liter
Ghee : 1/2 cup
Nutmeg powder/jaayfel : 1/2 tea spoon
Cardamom powder : 1/2 tea spoon
chopped cashew nuts and almonds : 1/2 cup
Sugar /brown Sugar : 200 grams / 1 cup
Method :
First blend broken wheat in blender for few seconds
Now heat ghee in a pan add edible gum ans fry on medium heat then take them into a plate.
Now add blended broken wheat saute till it changes into golden color.
Now pour warm milk to pan stir continuously for few seconds then add fried edible gum stir continuously
Now add half of the chopped nuts then stir continuously
When it gets thick add Brown sugar, if you don't have Brown sugar caramelize sugar in another pan then add this to halwasan mixture.
Stir continuously till ghee leaves it sides.
finally add nutmeg powder and cardamom powder stir it and remove from fire.
Now take this mixture into greased plate and let it cool completely then cut into pieces or have it with a spoon.
Blend broken wheat for few seconds |
Heat ghee fry edible gum on medium flame and take into a plate |
Add blended broken wheat saute till it changes into golden color |
Add milk |
Cook for few minutes |
Add fried edible gum |
Stir continuously |
When it becomes thick add half of the nuts |
Caramelize sugar |
Add to daliya mixture |
Stir continuously till ghee leaves it sides |
Finally add nutmeg and cardamom powder |
Stir till it becomes thick |
Take this into greased plate |
Sprinkle remaining nuts let it cool |
Serve!!!! |
