BEETROOT PACHHADI (Andhra style)/BEETROOT CHUTNEY RECIPE


I often prepare beetroot pachhadi at home. I mostly serves with plain hot rice. It tastes really delicious. You can also serve with dosa, idly or paratha. I love the color and taste of this chutney.  I prepared this chutney in our Andhra style.you just need handful of ingredients to make this pachhadi. Also so easy to make.

Ingredients :

Chopped beetroot : 250 grams
Tamarind : Medium lemon size
Dried red chillies : 10 to 12
large tomato : 1
cumin seeds/jeelakara : 1 tea spoon
fenugreek seeds/mentulu : 1 tea spoon
oil : 3 table spoons

For tempering :
crushed garlic cloves : 5 to 6
Oil : 2 table spoons
Mustard seeds/aavalu : 1 tea spoon
Cumin seeds/jeelakara : 1/2 tea spoon
Curry leaves/karivepaku : 2 strings
Hing/inguva : 1 pinch

Method :

First soak tamarind in water

Now take a pan add oil then add chillies, cumin and fenugreek seeds saute for few seconds and take them into a plate

Now in same pan add chopped beetroot saute for 3 to 4 minutes then add roughly sliced tomato and saute till tomatoes gets soft then remove from fire and let it cool completely

Now take all fried ingredients and soaked tamarind into a blender add salt and blend into a Fine paste. (don't add any water)

Now for tempering heat oil in a pan add all ingredients one by one then saute for few seconds and add blended beetroot and saute for few seconds and remove from fire.

Now serve with hot rice, paratha or dosa.


Soak tamarind in water

Chop beetroots


Heat oil add red chillies, cumin and fenugreek seeds

Saute for a while and take into a plate

In same pan add chopped beetroot

Saute for few minutes

Add tomatoes

Cook it well

Remove from fire and let it cool completely


Take all fried ingredients into a blender


Add soaked tamarind without water

Add salt

Blend into a fine paste without adding water

Now for tempering heat oil add mustard seeds

Add cumin seeds

Add crushed garlic,hing and curry leaves

Saute for few seconds

Add blended chutney

Saute for few seconds and remove from fire


Yummy chutney is ready to serve!!!!
